SGA meeting 2/10/09

SGA Meeting hellz yea bro!

The row of seating in Goodpaster 195 where Senator Van Parys and I usually sit has been taken up by administrators for the past two meetings. It's really lame, but you can't just ask them to move, cause it's kinda rude. Like I'm sure they would understand and move, but I don't want to be mean I guess.

8:06 - Meeting Started, Marlena Weiss is doing the roll call woooooo party hard

8:09 - Student Speakout

Stephanie Hartwick is complaining about departmental cuts. She is, as I guessed, from the Chemistry Department. A lot of kids in the chem dept. are pretty pissed due to the lack of being able to keep the big machine running (I don't know what it's called) and the lack of chemicals.

Even thought it's only the chemistry department complaining about budget cuts, I think they have a really valid point.

EWWWW she wants to use special carry over and SGA funds to support the academic departments. Lame. We need that money to buy pizza for every club! All kidding aside, I don't think SGA funds should go towards this.

8:12 - She is still complaining about stuff. Now complaining about the new paper towel and toilet paper dispensers.

8:13 - Sunny is responding to the student speakout. She is wearing a very nice green shirt, I approve. Also a cool necklace. I am paying more attention to her fashion than to her actual speech.

8:18 - Sunny wants to put SGA funds towards assisting the academic departments

8:22 - Okay apparently most people are in favor of putting funds towards the academic departments, so I guess it probably is a good idea since they are all smarter than I am.

8:25 - Career Development Center presentation! Amanda Walker is our guest speaker, and she graduated from SMCM in 2001. She handles internships and federal jobs at the Career Development Center.

8:26 - Okay now another lady is talking about the Career Development Center, I don't know who she is though. It's in Glendening Hall, and the Center is very pretty.

8:28 - LOLZ Calvin Richards was about to walk in here, until he realized an SGA meeting was going on. The CDC has a website, and it's pretty cool I guess. I am still set on lifeguarding for the fourth summer in a row, so I'm somewhat disinterested. Also I just found the Spellcheck function on Blogspot, which is very useful.

8:31 - Actually this site is pretty sweet, I'm going to check it out. Here's the link.

8:42 - I am really hungry. When I get back to my room I think I will eat Cheez-Itz.

8:45 - That was a pretty solid presentation on the Career Development Center.

8:46 - Culinary Club wants to become a club. I was going to vote against this, but the student proposing the club is from Prince George, so I think I will support her.

8:47 - Cartoon Club wants to become Illustration Ink. We passed their resolution!

8:48 - Chris Rodkey wants to give three hammocks from SGA to Rotoract for Christmas in April. These are the same hammocks that SGA set up during the summer that broke due to rain rusting.

8:55 - blah blah blah more stuff

8:58 - Announcements etc.

9:02 - Goddamit, Carbon Leaf won the thing for World Carnival. I was really hoping for bloc party or cobra starship

9:17 - Meeting Adjourned

SGA Meeting 1/20

First SGA Meeting of the year!!!!!!!

8:05 - Meeting starts

8:13 - We are watching a Webinar about a new website, "discoverED", which is all about finding jobs after college. Pretty cool stuff I guess. The guy is talking to the internet while giving us a guided tour of the website. The future is now! Checkout www.bediscovered.com starting February 2nd! It's run by a SMCM alumn so give him your support I guess?

8:18 - Marlena Weiss was just sworn in as our new Secretary, and Adam Matthai as our new Parliamentarian. Exciting! Marlena is wearing a sweet vest, I am very jealous of it.

8:20 - Bill about SGA covering the cost of Renewable Energy Credits. Boring stuff. But, Sunny brought up the idea of raising student fees and then saving some of the new income for later investment into green intiatives such as solar panels, etc. I think this was a really cool idea.

8:25 - Iben Ricket is staring off into space, but staring off into space right at me, which is making me feel uneasy because her gaze is intimidating. I hope we have a meeting about Publicity soon because they are pretty fun/I love SGA publicity.

8:28 - REC Bill got passed! wooo.

8:30 - Matt Fafoutis is talking about the search for a new President. My suggestions:
-Bush (out of a job now)
-Myself
-Matt Fafoutis :3
-Cal Ripken (my personal favorite option)

8:32 - Nora Olney just told us about the Inauguration Edition of The Nest. Exciting?

8:34 - Jeremy Pevner just spoke in third person

8:40 - blah blah blah

8:44 - blah blah blah

SGA Meeting 12/9

SGA Meeting!

Today is my Birthday!

8:10 - I was late but the meeting started right as I arrived. They have cheese and crackers and drinks and Rocher candies. I fucking love Rocher. And Cheese. Senator Van Parys and I love cheese.

8:12 - I walked in from peeing during roll call, they called my name, and then I grabbed three Rocher candies and people laughed

8:14 - Sociology Club. They are splitting from the Anthropology club. It's all very weird but whatever I don't care. I wish them the best of luck.

8:18 - We just voted a ginger for something. I don't know what but we just voted in favor of a ginger. I am considering resigning

8:20 - Kait Hines is wearing a hat. It reminds me of those Cuban Communist hats, but it has a different design for the fabric. Either way, I usually don't like these hats, but I think it looks nice on her.

8:21 - Larry Vote is here. At least I think it is him, I'm not all that sure. He is talking a lot. I have no idea what is going on. Okay he is talking about 83 objectives and milestones that the college is trying to accomplish. One of them was having 35 students go into MAT. I want to go into MAT, so I am glad they are more or less accepting everyone.

8:25 - Jeremy Pevner and Sunny Schnitzer are sitting in front of me. Sunny is the President of the SGA, she is a cutie. They usually sit on the other side. This is exciting!

8:31 - Larry Vote is still talking. Iben Ricket asked a question. She is wearing this sweet blue blazer. It's like...darker than robin's egg, but not too dark. A very bright color, good for Spring. He is answering her question but I don't really get it.

8:43 - It's really hard to pay attention sometimes, but overall SMCM seems to be accomplishing its goals.

8:45 - The SGA just sang me, Ken Benjes, Happy Birthday. This is incredibly exciting.

8:48 - Sunny is motivating the SGA to make the meetings more interesting. Woo!

8:53 - I am very sleepy :[

8:57 - Jeremy is talking about stuff he talked about tuition increases. They passed, so tuition will increase. Jeremy voted against them, but he was the only one which is kinda lame, but expected. River Center is now the James P. Muldoon River Center. Muldoon is a kickass name, because it reminds me of Mt. Doon/Doom from Lord of the Rings.

9:04 - O god I just dropped the Lego Poinsettia that I made. It made a noise, but not too loud. I miss it :[

9:06 - The MHEC Representative (she talks about stuff about school or something) is saying the same things that she said at the Sunday Meeting. This is really boring.

9:08 - We are congratulating Kait Hines on being a cool webmaster, I loves her.

9:11 - Oh my god Iben Ricket just mentioned me for researching frisbees to give out at SGA events. I feel very honored

9:23 - Sunny just told Senator Van Parys and I that we won festive attire!

9:24 - Meeting adjourned
