I heard rumors of this a few weeks ago, and it seems that the all student email has confirmed them. Candace Daniels helped a lot with sexual education on campus, as well as other mental health issues as our Wellness Advocate. I'm not really sure what a Wellness Advocate is, but Candace definitely had a large impact in the area of sexual assault.
She came here in 2006 as a Sexual Assault Response and Prevention (SARP) Coordinator, and from there did a lot in regards to spreading information about what sexual assault is, and how to protect yourself from it.
Most importantly, she had lots of shirts to give out. I got three shirts from her, for which I will be forever grateful.
This also raises the issue of how her role will be replaced. As you may or may not know, there is currently a hiring freeze here at SMCM. While we can hire "in-house" (I think this means graduating students), we currently can't hire anyone from the outside. This means that the Health Center staff will have even more responsibilities, with fewer staff members. The Health Center is already pretty understaffed and not really available to meet the needs of the students. I hope that in the future more money will be put towards the Health Center in order to help sick students, both from illness/disease and the mental health issues that can arise from being a college student.
Lastly, Candace was pretty cool and easy to talk to. I will miss her.
Edit: One time she was demonstrating ejaculation with a fake penis, and all the fake Semen shot onto Jesse Lee.

Circle K Meeting
I went to another Circle K meeting. This time I brought 5$ for dues, which gets you a shirt. So if you are looking for yet another SMCM shirt which you will undoubtedly donate to the local Goodwill upon graduation, look no further.
It quickly became obvious to me why Circle K won club of the month; they are incredibly organized and balance a half dozen service projects every month. Kelli Hill and the rest of the officers put in a ridiculous amount of work. They do a lot of volunteering with local kids, generally middle schoolers. It's definitely the feel good club of the year.
We had been collecting money for Unicef, and raised 92.56$ wooo!
They need like 10 more people to bring 5$ for a shirt and membership to become a legit club (as in recognized by Kiwanis International) so I would really recommend joining.

Class of 2011 Meeting
I went to the Class of 2011 Meeting that was held tonight. Apparently I am the first person to ever attend one of their meetings. This is kinda depressing really. The meeting was about 10 minutes and they kept asking me questions about my opinions on what they were doing. It was creepy at first, but I can see where they were coming from and it was just cute after awhile :3
Also I somewhat feel bad that I have a 2010 shirt but not the 2011 shirt. Also 2009 shirt sucks. I hope that 2012 makes an awesome shirt.
Speaking of shirts, the week of November 15thish I think they are planning to be selling shirts in the campus center, and then have a "wear you shirt" day. Exciting stuff!
So, if you aren't busy you should go to one of their meetings so that they are less depressed. It's every few Mondays at 8.
