Dean Bayless Sacked

Urgo sent out a brief email recently announcing the end of Dean Bayless's time here at St. Mary's.

(Click it for a larger version, duhhh)

According to sources that are probably marginally accurate, her contract was not renewed.  contracts are weird.  I guess it is like when you are playing baseball and you have a bad season so your contract doesn't get renewed, and you go play for a Minor League team, but you are so good there that you end up playing for an even better MLB league next year.  I think that was basically the plot of 30% of all baseball movies, and may be an indicator of Bayless's future.

I think a lot of people saw this coming, via new Prezzys coming in and 'cleaning house'.  The two did not seem to mesh completely in terms of philosophy.  And views on beer.  Wonder how they will find a new Dean.  I hope it is a long drawn out process that takes 1.5 years.

IDK how to feel about this.  Apparently she started in 2007, which means we've grown up with this college together or something, and leaving together (and both of us looking for jobs!)

Good luck in the future!

Also I refuse to post that image that compares her to a certain Harry Potter character.

Also, lolz:

  1. They should start by cleaning house with a lot of the worthless maintenance staff. Never been so unimpressed by a group of people since like... grade school.

And it's a shame because there's approx. 2.5 people who are incredibly hardworkers but all anyone sees is the 97.5 of crap. Ductaping broken water pipes, ignoring mold issues, refusing to reattach door hinges... jesus the list goes on.

And Big T... that guys gotta go. Obnoxious and dipping into the offensive

    1. Oh yeah, I just love being yelled at because I did something wrong in the great room and I don't understand how his 'system' works. Fuck him.

    3. I definitely got bitched by him for no real reason once during the one semester I had a meal plan. Not a fan either.

    4. Big T is coolest. You've just got to roll with the punches and understand his awesome sense of humor. If you do, then he'll treat you reaaaaal good (like give you hugs and super special crepes!).

    5. Maintenance deals with idiot drunks and their messes on the regular. They are kind and hardworking. Don't act like a spoiled brat.

Is this a joke? Maintenance tasks require tools that the staff are not personally responsible for providing. The school is, and holding the staff responsible for the limited resources available to them (especially when they aren't even earning living wage salaries, which make paying out-of-pocket, or whatever else you'd suggest, all the more unfeasible)is bullshit. I'm disgusted to go to school with entitled assholes like you.

  5. the person who said the thing about the maintenance staff is purebred retard. typical spoiled ass bitch taking out frustrations on the most disenfranchised employees with the least pleasant jobs while there are people working in the administrative offices who are equally if not far more inept and paid a fuck ton more. but oh no, so and so didn't reattach my door hinges

    2. Junior year, one of the maintenance workers came to fix something in my room. When he realized there were like fourteen other things wrong, he went back, gathered up all the supplies for them, and fixed them too. I guess people just have a whole range of experiences.

    3. Amen. No one's perfect, but maintenance and housekeeping are the shittiest jobs on campus, plus the whole department has bled out jobs over the last 4 years that haven't been replaced, so they're even more understaffed. Give them a fucking break.

    4. the elbow joint in our sink cracked on a Friday night about 9 and we called Maintenance. They sent the on-call guy over immediately and he fixed it no problem and was really nice about it. We all make it a point to say hi to him whenever we see him around now.

The guys over there like Sam, Cici (sp?), and even some of the tradesmen like Ed Morasch are awesome. There are some bad apples, same goes for grounds, but most work hard and are generally great people.

Derek Thornton on the other hand, how did he keep his job after the mold...

    5. 3 people got fired after the townhouse mold, and 3 other people just got fired for reasons unrelated to mold, but no one's been fired yet over the mold this year. I'd be shaking in my boots if I worked anywhere near maintenance these days.

    6. Agreed. They are really great, really helpful and nice and courteous and beautiful.

  6. I never received anything but kindness and courtesy from the maintenance employees. The administration on the other hand...

    1. Some girls say they saw her head go all the way around. But that's just a rumor.

    2. Some people swear they saw me push her in front of the bus. That was an even worse rumor.

  8. Hysterical that the Harry Potter reference is still around in full force. I graduated '09 and Umbridge was quite a common comment.
