World Carnival Band Selection 2012

Looks like there is a list for the 2012 World Carnival Bands!  Do yall want to read my opinions of each of these bands???  If so continue reading \/ \/ \/

1. Biz Markie - He is on Yo Gabba Gabba which is cool and that song about a girl having just a friend but that friend was not actually just a friend.  He seems chill.

2. Raekwon - ???

3. RJD2 - RJD2 has a really great song (which is linked <----) that I have really liked for a long time, but never made the leap towards listening to any of his other stuff.  Not sure if he would be fun to dance to, can anyone confirm his dancability???

4. Holy F**k - I was really surprised/confused/excited when they came for CoffeeHouse a few semesters ago (college is all one blur) so I would not mind seeing them again

5. Ra Ra Riot - I tried to get into this band because they seemed similar to other bands that I was into but they never really impressed me

6. Chairlift - Probably a 'alt ski rock' band

7. Margot & the Nuclear So and So's - I think my roommate liked this band, they are probably 'hip'

8. Chester French - ???

9. Lights - I think this is a popular danceable band that I would support

10. Two Door Cinema Club - Some people like this group IDK

11. Electric Six - Electric sex???

12. Breathe Carolina - I have never listened to this band but I once shared a bed with someone who was obsessed with them, so there's that

13. Radiohead - I can't believe Radiohead is an option!!!

Wow cool. I should probably start writing for Pitchfork.  Last two years have been disappointing (via weather and short acts so maybe this year will be cooler (idc I don't think I'll be around yall).

World Carnival

Sad :[ .  World Carnival is one of my favorite events.  Was looking forward to watching quidditch and not understanding what was going on in this game.  And inflatable stuff.  Inflatables are supposed to be used next semester for welcome back weekend...they should probably use them this weekend instead because that would be more fun for me.

Update: Who is pushing the shitty button, Cool Kids are a pretty good group, and will result in a lot of fun dancing.

Exclusive: Possible World Carnival Band

I got an email from some SMCM alumns in a band called Drop Electric asking me who to contact to play at World Carnival. I listened to some of their songs and they seemed pretty chill and enjoyable. So in the event that they actually end up playing at World Carnival, you heard it here first. lol

Speaking of World Carnival, I am really excited.

I think I am pro-Cool Kids

Pros:

• Rapperz
• Pretty
• Blipsters
• Reminds me of when Run DMC came
• Good for dancing/drank

Cons:

• ???

I also like Margot and the Nuclear so and sos but I think Cool Kids would be the funnest band

World Carnival

World Carnival happened weeks ago, but I never talked about it.  It occurred April 17-18, and it was the 16th World Carnival.  

My friend Ben Casto and I woke up early Saturday Morning (at like 6AM) to head over to Admissions Field to help set up and get a free shirt.  They said they would provide us with breakfast, which turned out to be really lame.  Like I wish they had just given us bagels or something.

We spent most of the 7-9AM tying balloons to stuff with Tricia Realbuto, which was awesome.  We became expert ballooners.  After this we went and got real breakfast.

I headed over to World Carnival later that day, and noticed some balloons were missing.  Apparently we weren't that good at tying balloons.  Anyway, there was lots of cool stuff.  I got a "KEN" henna tattoo which was awesome so that I can remember my name, and I also won a goldfish which I named Jeremy Pevner.  

I also tried out all of the inflatable things.  The lasertag was best.  I played with Ben and some people from SMUT.  It was a lot of fun until it started deflating, and we didn't realize it, and we almost died.  It was the most traumatic experience of my life.  I now have Post Traumatic Stress Disorder :[

And Carbon Leaf was really sweet.  

World Carnival was awesomesz~

World Carnival Band

Nora Olney sent out the World Carnival band survey this morning. Here are your options:
-Cobra Starship
-Broken Social Scene
-The Academy Is
-Bloc Party
-Carbon Leaf
-Better than Ezra
-Mae
-Phantom Planet
-Rogue Wave

I put them in the order of what I would like to see (Cobra Starship makes me swoon/swoons me). I haven't heard of any of the bands past Carbon Leaf. I am pretty excited to see who performs. Make sure you vote for your favorite! Click here to vote
