Someone made the Campus Center in the 'popular' 'videogame' Minecraft
I tried doing something like this a few years ago and quickly gave up and went to the Door.

Wagon Wheel
It's no secret that a lot of SMCM students are obsessed with the Old Crow Medicine Show Wagon Wheel. But why??? When did this obsession begin? Can any alumni shed some light on how long people have had major boners for this song???
Not sure where this sign is actually located, but I stole it from someone's tumblr. Do yall think that we should have a 'wagon wheel dr' so that students can repeatedly steal it (via students stealing that scarecrow on route 5, RIP scarebro).
I guess Wagon Wheelies has a lot of common themes like 'going South' (via most students are from the North [via goddam Yankees]) and wanting to get 'it on' with a girlie (via sex).
If yall check out Spotify there is a really sweet playlist of a bunch of Wagon Wheel covers that you can find here if yall are into that.
Do yall ever like to play this song to end the night/signal everyone to leave ur house???
Is hitchhiking 'cool' anymore? Once I left my bicycle at the Green Door and kinda wanted to hitchhike my way there (via 2-3 miles) but ended up walking instead out of fear.
Maybe we all just wanted 2 get rocked like a waggony wheel???
Is Wagon Wheel our fight song via lack of football teams???
EDIT: Also, that post a week or so about about cigarette buttz was supposed to have an image attached but it failed. It was a picture of a cigarette butt holder on campus that was overflowing.

SMCM Marauder's Map
Someone, I believe Jamie Phillips, made a Marauder's Map (via Harry Potter) for SMCM. So far the only thing that I've found on the map itself is clicking on Monty to find out how to get on the roof easily. Oh and I just found something to click on around the Campus Center which leads into the top of the tower...interesting. Oh and there is something to click on around Anne Arundel.
So check it out, leave a comment if you find any more secrets on the map.
I'm dumb and forgot to link to it. http://students.smcm.edu/jephillips/Maphome.html

Transcript Fees
Transcript fees are here, woo! Lots of people upset. Most school charge for this sort of thing, but SMCM never used to which was kinda cool I guess. So the new fees are in part due to the service Transcript Ordering which lets you know via email when your transcripts are sent out and such. Transcripts now cost $5, and Transcript Ordering, which provides several services (online order tracking, 24/7 access, paperless, blah blah blah), adds another $2.50 charge. So if you want to apply to two schools, it will cost $15 now. Not sure why you would want to send two transcripts to one place, but you can do that too.
I asked Susan Bennet why this costs money, and this was her response (yes she writes emails in Comic Sans):
Either way, lots of people seem upset about this/have found something to whine about.
I asked Susan Bennet why this costs money, and this was her response (yes she writes emails in Comic Sans):
Didn't really answer the question as to why there is now a $5 charge for transcripts (other than that people decided it would be a good idea). The $2.50 fee is a third party group that takes in all of the transcript requests and sends them to the school. Not really sure what the purpose of that is, but I don't work in the Registrar's Office so I don't know how that all works. I'd rather not pay $2.50 and just assume that my transcript was in fact sent out.Hi Ken,
Thank you for your interest in this service. The cost for providing transcripts is a process that several SMCM administrators have been studying and evaluating for quite some time. The President’s cabinet gave approval for this charge over a year ago. We decided to wait until we could offer the convenient transcript request process before initiating the transcript fee.
Although Transcript Ordering collects the $5.00 per transcript fee, these monies are forwarded to SMCM. Transcript Ordering is a non-profit organization and charges the $2.50 per address to cover their processing fees.
Transcript Ordering only provides an electronic way for individuals to request transcripts and to receive email updates of their request. When the Registrar’s Office receives the transcript requests electronically, we will in turn process the transcripts as we have done before. That is, we still print the official transcript on official paper, seal it in an official envelope and mail it to the requested recipient. Or, if the individual requests an unofficial transcript, we will email as a pdf, fax or mail as requested.
Please let me know if you have any further questions.
Take care,
Either way, lots of people seem upset about this/have found something to whine about.

SMCM Admissions Video
Found an interesting SMCM Admissions video circa 2008-09 today while at work.
http://www.youniversitytv.com/video/viewvideo/3321/st-marys-college-of-maryland/st-marys-college-of-maryland
It's a fun video to watch with some legit production values (I think??) and shows many aspects of the college. Also the host is pretty attractive/not annoying. If you're my age you'll probably recognize a lot of the people in the video, but if you're younger you might only recognize the professors. Seeing Matt Fafoutis in this was awesome. Miss him :[.

Seahawk Basketball!
First game tonight against Hopkins. Expect to hear chants of 'SAFETY SCHOOL' (via Hopkins is a difficult school to get into so it's sarcastic). Should be exciting! Make it out to the game if you can!

Couch Creatures
The school often uses this image of the Couch Creatures in promotional stuff, but kinda annoyed that the group hasn't existed for a few years (I don't think it's been a thing since I've been here). I mean, people take blankets to games and sit on the track, but I haven't seen a huge gathering with couches and 'couch creatures' shirts ever, other than this photo (photo being the one in the upper right, you probably saw it at some point during the admissions process).
Or maybe I'm wrong, can anyone confirm deny? I've only been to about a dozen games on the Varsity Field so I could be wrong.

Bridge Inspection
This happened awhile ago, but it would have been cool if the school had told us that the bridge at Solomons was being inspected during move-in day so that we could have avoided that hour of traffic.
EDIT: apparently the government down here is bad at informing people about these bridge inspections, according to a commenter. Very possible. In Baltimore County they are real good about notifying people about stuff like this, but could be different down here. Either way I was upset/it was kinda cool because I got to walk around on the bridge.

A blurb
Saw this little flow of conscious that a student wrote earlier this morning. Gonna repost it because it's kinda cute/great.
im pretty sure i always rode safe ride home from the door by myself. halloween is known as the greatest night of the year. people from college park and townies and everyone elise meets that she invites comes down. its a bunch of people running around a square in costumes but it fucking rules. there are drinks at every house that may be why. on may first the seniors ride bikes naked through campus and jump in to the river. and to fool the cops they do it twice. theres a student worked farm, a vegetarian food co-op, and if you think your bike is stolen someone probably just borrowed it because youll probably find it on the other side of campus the next week. frisbees are annoyingly flying everywhere, people through their shoes in a tree after they have sex, theres the dorch porch, the point, the docks, the greens, the door. books the shady porn store which ive only ever gone to and read the fake comics in front because i always forget my id. books that i never open for class and class held outside. on the water. I MISS YOU. theres so much more.

Help Kait Hines
Kait Hines sent some people a message about working on the school website, and she has a quick survey. If you would like to complete it go ahead and leave your response in the comments. Also I've included my answer.
1. What has been your favorite housing at St. Mary's and why? (you can include a favorite memory as a reason for any of these if you'd like)
4. What's your favorite spot on campus?

Muldoon
This bro's name is Gordon Muldoon, the River Center is named after James P. Muldoon. Muldoon is a weird last name, so maybe they are related.
