Applications to become an RA are due February 4th! Many people don't realize, but I was once an RA, long ago (via sophomore year). It was an interesting experience, and although I was not rehired (note that this is different from being fired) I think it was overall cool. And Kelly and Derek are both pretty great and supportive.
But if you really like to go out every weekend it might not be the best career choice.

Volleyball and Hospital Duty
Yesterday was Panda's 4th game of intramural volleyball. We made a valiant effort, but team Senioritis defeated us. I really like volleyball a lot, and intramural games in general are pretty sweet.
One of the refs was celebrating her birthday and was pretty trashed. We tried to get her to play for our team, but her friends dragged her away. It was pretty fun, especially when she yelled about the likelihood of herself getting fired.
After volleyball I came back and got a call on the hospital duty phone. RAs are on call for a few nights per semester from 5PM to 7AM, basically when the Health Center is closed, to transport people to and from the hospital. I went with a guy from Public Safety, but I don't know who it was. He wasn't an officer, and he was really nice and pointed out all of the weird traffic situations on Rt. 5, like the lanes that turn into turn only lanes.
After picking up the student from the hospital I got another call, and it seemed like I would have to drive to the hospital again. But when I got back, the other student's friends had taken her to the hospital because she was feeling sick, meaning I didn't have to drive her.
My hypothesis is that the other person going to the hospital was the girl from intramural volleyball. But I will probably never know if this was the case.

The Responsibilities of an RA
Sitting in the RA office
I am sitting in the RA office. A guy and a girl with arms around each others shoulders just came in. The girl's crotch was....wet. I only saw her from behind, and the butt part of her crotch was wet. I am assuming that the frontal/vaginal part of her crotch was also wet. I am very confused by this. I know who the guy is but I'd rather not put his name here because it would be kinda embarrassing.

Block Party!
The Residence Halls on the Hill (Prince George, Caroline, and Dorchester) hosted a block party yesterday afternoon. It was pretty excellent. There was pumpkin carving, food, Hawk Radio, beer goggles, and most important of all
Free Shirts. It was the blue ones from Monday.
Highlights:
-I was carving my pumpkin, which said SMUT SLUT, and Dean Bayless walked over to see what it said, and I carefully covered the SLUT portion. Very awkwards
-Jesse Lee, Adam K., and the French kid in my Chinese class cooked food. They ran out of veggie burgers really early on so I ended up not being vegetarian for a half hour, since I wanted food and the Great Room closed early. Also they didn't have condiments until the very end :[
-A first year yelled "fuck you" at someone during the contest to win a "super sober safe sex shirt"; it was really awkward and weird. And somehow Karina remembered all of the alcohol awareness events from the week.
-Chris Rodkey and I made caramel apples. They were delicious
Overall it was pretty enjoyable. If you want to see my pumpkin, it is in Chris Rodkey's window or the RA office window
