There was no meeting last week. Lame!
8:08 - Meeting has started.
8:10 - The SMUT caucus has formed. There are currently four St. Mary's Ultimate Team members in the SGA, and they all sit next to each other. It is very cute.
8:11 - Student speakout. Peter Black is talking. I think he is really annoying, but he is bringing up a good point, that the ARC hours are getting cut, and that this is really lame. Here is the facebook group he made.
8:15 - Danny Patrick Thomas Ruthenberg-Marshall is talking about the removal of the "pillow"/mound of dirt near Schaefer and Monty, and that he is kinda upset about it. It is great to see that he is taking the initiative to talk to the administrators about this whole project.
8:18 - Economics Club Constitution. They are changing some stuff, it doesn't really matter.
8:19 - Matt Fafoutis made some legislation about thanking the Physical Plant staff for cleaning up the snow. Awesome! John Campbell and I motioned to vote at the same time, and then we exchanged angry glares.
8:21 - Emergency Funds Appeals. These are really boring I hope they don't last long.
8:23 - Jesse Lee is flexing. I have an erection.
8:31 - Resolution to have this program where someone drives a van to DC one weekend per month. I have mixed feelings. I think I will listen to what other people say, and take their position on the issue.
8:45 - Excecutive board reports.
8:58 - Iben Ricket just mentioned the possibility of a slip n slide. I am excited.
9:05 - Blah Blah Blah
9:17 - Meeting Adjourned

SGA Publicity Committee Meeting
Yesterday I went to Iben Ricket's house with John Campbell and a new girl Sam White. Sam is a freshman from QA and she seemed pretty average. John of course talked about SafeRide a lot. Iben had Double Stuffed Oreos and Tostitos Scoops and Salsa. I fucking love Scoops so much, like I get offended if I am at a party with chips and salsa and the chips are not scoops. I just can't deal with real corn chips anymore after having the ease of scoops. Also she said that she got Double Stuffed Oreos so that she did not look cheap, but John and I were too busy eating them to listen to what she was saying. Oreos are so good, but I haven't had them in a long time.
Moving on, we discussed a few topics like SGA giving out frisbees wit the SGA logo. Speaking of the logo, Publicity Committee is trying to make an SGA logo, but none of us are good at logo design so we are planning on having a contest with 50$ gift card to whoever makes the logo we like the most.
Also we talked about these plywood cubes that UNC has. I don't have any pictures, but imagine a 8x3 foot sheet of plywood. Now imagine four of them put together into a cube. Students and clubs can paint things on these, like advertisements for club events or whatever they want. I think it's a pretty sweet idea, and gives the students an opportunity to express themselves creatively. Radical!

My Senatorial Profile

Apparently the SGA website has profiles of all the Senators and other SGA members. Mine is of course the one in the photo. You can find the full list here. I enjoyed the fact that they spelled "sophomore" wrong. People forget the "o" in the middle a lot. I imagine next year when I am no longer a sophomore I too will forget how to spell it. I think my reason for involvement in the SGA is pretty excellent. Wednesday I have a meeting with Iben Ricket about SGA Publicity which should be exciting.

SGA Meeting 1/20
First SGA Meeting of the year!!!!!!!
8:05 - Meeting starts
8:13 - We are watching a Webinar about a new website, "discoverED", which is all about finding jobs after college. Pretty cool stuff I guess. The guy is talking to the internet while giving us a guided tour of the website. The future is now! Checkout www.bediscovered.com starting February 2nd! It's run by a SMCM alumn so give him your support I guess?
8:18 - Marlena Weiss was just sworn in as our new Secretary, and Adam Matthai as our new Parliamentarian. Exciting! Marlena is wearing a sweet vest, I am very jealous of it.
8:20 - Bill about SGA covering the cost of Renewable Energy Credits. Boring stuff. But, Sunny brought up the idea of raising student fees and then saving some of the new income for later investment into green intiatives such as solar panels, etc. I think this was a really cool idea.
8:25 - Iben Ricket is staring off into space, but staring off into space right at me, which is making me feel uneasy because her gaze is intimidating. I hope we have a meeting about Publicity soon because they are pretty fun/I love SGA publicity.
8:28 - REC Bill got passed! wooo.
8:30 - Matt Fafoutis is talking about the search for a new President. My suggestions:
-Bush (out of a job now)
-Myself
-Matt Fafoutis :3
-Cal Ripken (my personal favorite option)
8:32 - Nora Olney just told us about the Inauguration Edition of The Nest. Exciting?
8:34 - Jeremy Pevner just spoke in third person
8:40 - blah blah blah
8:44 - blah blah blah

SGA Meeting 12/9
SGA Meeting!
Today is my Birthday!
8:10 - I was late but the meeting started right as I arrived. They have cheese and crackers and drinks and Rocher candies. I fucking love Rocher. And Cheese. Senator Van Parys and I love cheese.
8:12 - I walked in from peeing during roll call, they called my name, and then I grabbed three Rocher candies and people laughed
8:14 - Sociology Club. They are splitting from the Anthropology club. It's all very weird but whatever I don't care. I wish them the best of luck.
8:18 - We just voted a ginger for something. I don't know what but we just voted in favor of a ginger. I am considering resigning
8:20 - Kait Hines is wearing a hat. It reminds me of those Cuban Communist hats, but it has a different design for the fabric. Either way, I usually don't like these hats, but I think it looks nice on her.
8:21 - Larry Vote is here. At least I think it is him, I'm not all that sure. He is talking a lot. I have no idea what is going on. Okay he is talking about 83 objectives and milestones that the college is trying to accomplish. One of them was having 35 students go into MAT. I want to go into MAT, so I am glad they are more or less accepting everyone.
8:25 - Jeremy Pevner and Sunny Schnitzer are sitting in front of me. Sunny is the President of the SGA, she is a cutie. They usually sit on the other side. This is exciting!
8:31 - Larry Vote is still talking. Iben Ricket asked a question. She is wearing this sweet blue blazer. It's like...darker than robin's egg, but not too dark. A very bright color, good for Spring. He is answering her question but I don't really get it.
8:43 - It's really hard to pay attention sometimes, but overall SMCM seems to be accomplishing its goals.
8:45 - The SGA just sang me, Ken Benjes, Happy Birthday. This is incredibly exciting.
8:48 - Sunny is motivating the SGA to make the meetings more interesting. Woo!
8:53 - I am very sleepy :[
8:57 - Jeremy is talking about stuff he talked about tuition increases. They passed, so tuition will increase. Jeremy voted against them, but he was the only one which is kinda lame, but expected. River Center is now the James P. Muldoon River Center. Muldoon is a kickass name, because it reminds me of Mt. Doon/Doom from Lord of the Rings.
9:04 - O god I just dropped the Lego Poinsettia that I made. It made a noise, but not too loud. I miss it :[
9:06 - The MHEC Representative (she talks about stuff about school or something) is saying the same things that she said at the Sunday Meeting. This is really boring.
9:08 - We are congratulating Kait Hines on being a cool webmaster, I loves her.
9:11 - Oh my god Iben Ricket just mentioned me for researching frisbees to give out at SGA events. I feel very honored
9:23 - Sunny just told Senator Van Parys and I that we won festive attire!
9:24 - Meeting adjourned

Overheard @ St. Marys
Like most colleges, SMCM has its own overheard website.
But it hasn't updated in half a year, which is somewhat depressing. I recently overheard Iben Ricket saying she was going to update the site over Winter Break, which would be exciting. Hopefully this will happen.
An excellent entry:

An excellent entry:
Near the Crescents, after leave an exam, a person makes a phone call.
"Hey Dad... yeah, I need the for your famous margaritas..."
I really like this one, it's just very cute and I love the relationship between the parent and child. It really makes me smile.

SGA Committees
I met with my two SGA committees recently, Publicity and Grounds.
Grounds is headed by Nathan Bossie. I like him because he always looks like he is about to laugh when he talks. Nathan is a pretty great guy, even if he seems to be a bit obsessed with SGA. We're planning to walk around with Administrators and survey the entire campus. Should be fun and awkward.
Publicity is run by Iben Ricket. I enjoyed this meeting more as I was offered alcohol, as opposed to the cake at the Ground meeting, but being a Premiere Student Leader I did not accept. Our big thing was planning the boards that are around the Campus Center (including the new one underneath the Library Arch), and figuring out what to give away. In the past SGA has given out coozies and cups, but we are looking to expand, possibly into discs.
Woo exciting!
